Here is the best current contact information we have for Louisiana arts organizations which have been displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

Usage tips:

1. Click here to add information for any organization not yet listed, and use the update button to update with fresh information for existing listings if you have it. Ideally, information should be entered by a qualified person from the displaced organization, but anyone may post or edit entries, so we ask that you enter information that you know is correct and confirmed.

2. The database on this site is for arts organizations. Individual artists are urged to provide information at the Louisiana Division of the Arts (LDOA) web site through the Individual Artist Relocation Form.

3. This is not a "looking-for / I'm safe" database. For such inquiries, we strongly urge you to visit the extraordinary resource at craigslist. In fact, the more centrally these searches are concentrated there, the more effective they will be.

Comments: The New Orleans Museum of Art and Besthoff Sculpture Garden are in very good shape. A few of the offices in the basement area suffered a little water damage, but those areas have been cleaned. NOMA is currently running on generator power and is awaiting city services before reopening.

Comments: Back in New Orleans, and rehearsing. Our Christmas program, "An Exultation of Angels", will be perfomed at St. Joseph Abbey in Covington on 12/04, at 3pm, and at Christ Church Cathedral in New Orleans on 12/11, 4pm. The Covington performance is the first of our 40th season, the Christ Church celebrats our 40th anniversary, and the Bi-Centenial of Christ church. Both performances are free.

Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival

Comments: If we have to shine flashlights at the stage, the Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival will take place as scheduled March 29-April 2 in the French Quarter. We don't know the exact location yet, but it will happen. Writers who love New Orleans and the Festival have rushed to our support, including Pulitzer prizewinner Michael Chabon, Dorothy Allison, Elizabeth Berg,Ayelet Waldman, Rick Bragg, John Barry, Bev Marshall, and Douglas Brinkley. Rolie Polie Olie's Emmy-award-winning creator Bill Joyce and other fine writers are still trying to arrange their schedules to join our celebration of New Orleans and its culture. Members of the board are scattered all over the country, but making plans to return as soon as possible. Joshua Clark, a member of the board, remained in the French Quarter throughout the storm and its aftermath. He is working on plans for relief for the city's writers and other artists, check out www.neworleansliteraryinstitute.com for more information. Paul Willis, the executive director, is running the Festival in Exile from Kewanee, Illinois, and Karissa Kary, the associate director, is working with him from the Ozarks in Missouri. So, like the New Orleans itself, the Festival is still alive. We'll be back!
