Derek Gordon

Louisiana Partnership for the Arts remembers with gratitude the contributions that Derek Gordon, President and CEO of the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge, made to elevate the arts in our capital and throughout the state.

Gordon’s work at New York’s Lincoln Center and earlier at the Kennedy Center for the Arts in Washington, D.C., informed his efforts in Louisiana. In cooperation with city government, the Baton Rouge Area Foundation and area arts organizations and businesses, he worked to help revitalize downtown Baton Rouge as a cultural destination and support cultural districts in key areas throughout the city.

For several years until his death on September 10, 2012, Derek served as a board member and treasurer of Louisiana Partnership for the Arts and Louisiana Citizens for the Arts. We sincerely hope that his passion for Louisiana’s creative communities will continue to inspire decision makers and all committed to Louisiana’s unique culture.
